Team Description  Welcome to the Navigator Team.  Our curriculum is based on the Vermont Framework of Standards and Learning Opportunities and District Standards that define the learning at our school.  The curriculum is divided into four thematic studies in the course of a year.   Each theme contains one or two major “thinking questions” or "challenges" to be solved through the process of investigation.  Essential reading, writing, mathematical, science, and social studies skills become tools in the investigative process that enhance the students’ ability to explore new knowledge and solve problems. The approach to investigating new ideas and mastering new skills is based on providing learning opportunities and instruction that meet the needs of the individual child.  We believe in a child centered learning approach that incorporates:

  • quality instruction
  • individual learning styles
  • Gardner ’s theories - Multiple Intelligence
  • student interest and choice
  • authentic assessment
