About Me - I love teaching!

We take on so many fun things each day, time flies from 8 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Our classroom program is based on the Vermont Standards for third and fourth graders.  Student choice, hands on projects, meeting with experts in our fields of study, and direct instruction and research make up the components of our classroom learning experience.  You will be challenged to create projects that help you:

• build powerful investigation skills
• learn new concepts
  
• unlock mysteries
• adventure the world
• explore questions you have
• develop your ability to teach others
• create a meaningful role as an active citizen in our community
  

We will have FUN working hard to become self-directed learners.

One unique aspect of this classroom is the amount of technology we use to investigate, collaborate, and complete assignments.  You will become technologically savvy and learn to complete most of your writing assignments & homework on Google Docs.

For Example:

• One of our goals - use technology to cut down on the use of paper!  You will create a digital portfolio of your work.
  
• Homework is posted on Cher's Homework Page.  This is where parents & students look to find out what is expected each week.

Home/School Communication:

Our team covers the curriculum in four thematic units.  Parents will find a theme page posted on Cher's Page as we start each new adventure.   Parents are strongly encourage to visit the webquest for every theme & explore it with your child.  This is a window into your child's experience.

Bi-weekly Classroom Bulletins are sent to parents via a blind copy email.  This will give you an overview of the classroom focus and rhythm.

Communication about children is done the old fashion way: parent/teacher conferences, phone calls, and sealed brief letters.  This is to protect your child's confidentiality.
