Mr. Scatchard's Page

Hi!  I'm Tom Scatchard and I teach 3rd and 4th grade on the Navigators team at Charlotte Central School.  Over the years I have taught second through sixth grade students, but I find that 8, 9 and 10 year olds are my favorite age.  I always have the students doing a great deal of writing, and we do small group math sessions, as well as lots of independent reading.  I also try to help students develop an appreciation of our natural environment and the need to act thoughtfully to maintain the health of our world.

I was born in Buffalo, New York, and grew up in Orchard Park, home of the Buffalo Bills (which explains why I am a Bills fan).  I graduated from Williams College in 1972 and in 1975 earned a Masters in Education from UVM (in fact, I student taught in a K-4 classroom at CCS with Diane Cote, the current reading specialist at CCS).  I, and my wife Ebeth, have spent our entire careers teaching at CCS, and our two sons have graduated from CCS and CVU.  We live on Dorset Street in Charlotte.
