Dear Parents,
Your child will have the opportunity to receive the H1N1 Flu vaccination at school on Tuesday, 11/10/09. We will update this page as to the status of students 9 and younger requiring a second vaccination, at a clinic originally planned for Friday December 4, 2009. We haven't recieved updated information about this second clinic.
We hope the Alert Now message and accompanying attachments, as well as the hard copies sent home through your students, help answer questions you may have.
There have been a couple of questions about the H1N1 Vaccination clinics that have come up repeatedly. The first question is in regard to parents accompanying their children in the vaccination process. Nurses from The State Department of Health will be administering the vaccinations. Their response to this question is as follows:
"The Health Department continues to ask that parents who wish to accompany their child while receiving the H1N1 vaccination take their child to her/his provider. In order to be as efficient as possible in these large clinics, we are unable to accommodate the extra people. Children who balk or are extremely upset will not be vaccinated."
The second question is in regard to the type of vaccine that will be offered at the school clinics. The school clinics will provide the vaccine through injections not the nasal form. The nasal form should become available at your child's pediatric office.
PLEASE NOTE: Whether or not you wish your child to receive the H1N1 vaccine, a consent form must be returned to the Health Office by Wednesday, October 21st. This will allow us to plan for the vaccination clinics and to verify that you know the vaccine is available.
