The Charlotte Essential Early Education program provides an early childhood education experience that fosters social, emotional, physical, cognitive and language development through enriching experiences and positive relationships. The program consists of students eligible for EEE services and community peer models. It is taught by Anne Mason along with Speech Language Pathologist Nancy Wood.
Our program goals are:
· To respect each child as an individual with unique abilities, feelings and needs.
· To create an environment that encourages children to observe, be active, explore, take risks, make choices and experiment.
· To develop positive self-concepts by setting clear, age-appropriate expectations and creating an atmosphere that encourages successful experiences.
· To create a community experience in which each child can build strong, positive relationships with the adults and children around them.
· To assist students in achieving their individual goals and objectives.
Our play-based curriculum is a blend of child-directed and teacher-directed activities with many opportunities for individual learning experiences. A balance of quiet, active, large group, small group and individual activities are offered daily. Our classroom is set up with activity centers including art, literacy, dramatic play, blocks and small manipulatives. Music, movement and language development activities are incorporated into a theme-based curriculum.
